ORDER OF CEREMONY

The Officiating Representatives of the Faith Traditions and members of the Council of State and of the Irish Government entered in procession.

The Taoiseach was escorted into the quadrangle. The Taoiseach's salute was sounded. The Taoiseach was escorted to his seat.

The President and escort arrived at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham. The President was escorted into the quadrangle (The assembly stood until the President reached the salute position). The Presidential salute was sounded. (The assembly resumed their seats) The President inspected the Guard of Honour. (The assembly remained seated) The President was escorted to her seat. (The assembly remained seated) Thereafter the assembly stood or sat according as the President stood or sat)

The Taoiseach invited the Representatives of the Faith Traditions to participate. After the Prayer read by Imam Sheikh Hussein Halawa, the Cadet Guard of Honour reversed arms. The Taoiseach invited the President to lay a wreath in honour of all those Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.

The President laid a wreath at the plaque on behalf of the people of Ireland.

A period of one minute's silence was then observed. Following the minute's silence, the Cadet Guard of Honour rendered honours and the Trumpeters and Drummers sound the Last Post.

The National Flag was then hoisted to full mast accompanied by a roll of drums. When the National Flag was put at full mast the Cadet Guard of Honour rendered honours and the Trumpeters and Drummers sounded Reveille, followed immediately by the National Anthem.

The President was escorted from the quadrangle, followed by the Taoiseach, members of the Irish Government, the Council of State and Representatives of the Faith Traditions .
