“Every Townland Earned its Name in Song: John Hewitt’s Ulster Scots Tradition”

About the Exhibition This exhibition explores Ulster poet, author, lecturer and broadcaster John Hewitt’s fascination with the poetry of the Rhyming Weavers and explores how the Scots vernacular became an integral part of poetry and local literature in Ulster.

The exhibition has been developed by Dr Kathryn White and Dr Frank Ferguson (University of Ulster) for the John Hewitt Society and will be on display at PRONI from 27th June – 9th July 2013.

The John Hewitt archive held by PRONI (Ref D3838) comprises over 7,000 documents and volumes. 

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) requests the pleasure of DrIan Adamson’s company on Friday 28th June 2013 at 1pm.
