Deric Henderson is Ireland Editor of the Press Association, the national news agency for the UK and Ireland, and is responsible for all editorial and photographic output from the Dublin and Belfast offices. He began his journalistic career at the Tyrone Constitution in his home town of Omagh in August 1968, moving to the Belfast Telegraph in 1973 and then to the PA’s Fleet St. HQ in 1980. Deric was appointed Ireland Editor in 1998.

He was named Northern Ireland Journalist of the Year in 2010, the year he began researching his best-selling book, “Let This Be Our Secret”, the extraordinary story of dentist Colin Howell and his lover Hazel Stewart who murdered their respective partners in 1991 before deceiving the police into believing the deaths were suicides. Deric hopes the story will eventually be turned into a film with the Northern Ireland actor James Nesbitt playing the leading role.
